Good day, hello and welcome!
We have been very BUSY! We have had a brisk few months over the summer and it will continue to be busy well into 2025!
And today, we can also release the poster for the upcoming Strange Tale – “Locked”.
Locked
“Locked” was filmed over the summer. Cameras rolled for three days from 20th July to 29th September. The cast smashed it out the park - which isn’t the easiest of things to do, when they spent their time acting to a camera and had a black backdrop.
The film was in development hell for over 6 years - from cast availability, directors dropping out, and (of course) that annoying thing called a worldwide pandemic!
But it is not only on its way, but it is wrapped! Directed and co-produced by Valiant Films’ Teddy Smith. It is one of those films where it was relatively easy to shoot and now the hard work begins in post-production. We always knew by design this one will have a longer post production schedule and it has begun. Teddy Smith is also editing the film and he will hand it over for the effects to be added.
All will be revealed very soon - with a 2024 release planned.
More Strange Tales news
In other Strange Tales news, two more are in production.
“All Alone, Not By Myself”. This animated Strange Tale has been locked and the animator Matthew Lee has handed in the first version of the complete film. Watchers Productions cannot thank him enough for all his hard work so far. The film goes into the next phase of production - colouring and background art - before entering the online stage, where we add colour grade, any effects, and (of course) soundscape and mix.
The other film in production at present is a late addition to Season 3’s line up – “Chapter Two”. Written by Matthew Ford & Matthew Fisher, it is being directed by Rhys Jones.
The team have filmed two days on the project so far. Back in August, we filmed with the talented Victoria George-Veale and Matthew Doman who kindly gave us half a day of their time to film a cameo for the film, set in the 1940s.
We then began principal photography on the project on September 28th and we already wrapped two young cast members - Ruby Wilson and Steve Ryan. They play the main character Lowri's children, Becca and Adrian.
Filming will continue into 2025 with this film and “All Alone, Not By Myself” releasing in 2025. We are currently scheming what is next for Strange Tales beyond 2025 - we will announce this soon!
Twinkle
We are also in the middle of producing a one man stage play, Twinkle starring Terrance Marshman-Edwards.
November 2002. In a dilapidated theatre dressing room in a town that's seen better days, veteran pantomime dame Harold Thropp prepares to unleash the Widow for a very special event, which promises to be electrifying…
This darkly comic, often poignant, monologue touches on the art of performance, queer history, the impact of reality TV, and what it means to be “famous”.
Written by Philip Meeks, and directed by Christopher Maxwell of Dramatic Moose Productions, the show is running for three nights only in mid-December 2024. Come and join us for a very different Christmas night out - tickets are on sale now.
Awards nominations
Outside everything Watchers, our very own Watcher Matthew Ford has received two nominations for his first feature script, My Child.
The script has been shortlisted for the Dragon List for The Film Festival Guild's International Film Festival of Wales and shortlisted for the British Horror Film Festival's Blood List, which "celebrates screenplays of outstanding quality".
Massive congrats to Matt and that’s all from us at the moment! Stand by for new Tales and come watch a play at Christmas!
